need external harddrive

in Techie Stuff
i need to back up a lot of files, and was looking at external hard drives. as a bit of a techno phobe im unsure of what to get, how much i should pay.

mainly photos, word documents, powerpoint presentations and some music files. dont know how much that would add up to.susiesue

if you right click on the c: drive (assuming that is where your data is), and do properties, what is the size?
A DVD writer is a better backup method if you have one, and the data (especially music) is not too big. The problem with any hard disk is, they can die, get infected with viruses, etc.
If you have 100's of MBytes, then an external Hard disk is easier than feeding loads of DVD's in, but I'd always use a DVD for the most important files (music can be replaced, but cherished photos can't).Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0 -
if ive done it right then i only have used 16gb so wont need a huge storage amount.susiesue
