Should I allow buyer to arrange own courier?

I am selling a pushchair as pick up only (far too much hassle to parcel up something this big) but I keep getting asked to post it.

One person has asked if they can arrange their own courier. Am I leaving myslef open to scams if I agree? If they claim it hasn't arrived who can I claim from? What if it arrives damaged?

Would they expect me to do the packaging too?

Any advice gratefully received!

Yes. I have the same thing, sold an item yesterday and buyer is sending their own courier to collect, I am a bit worried that if it gets damaged will their own courier be liable?

You would have to package it up very well yourself which defeats your object

If they put in a paypal claim how can you prove it was delivered if you didn't pay for the courier ?

Yes you would have to wrap it and box it to the requirements of a courier that you know nothing baout, so don't agree to this. You remain liable for everything, you still have to pack to the exact requirements of the courier and you may not even be insured in case of damage. Unless you get the full tracking details *and* buyer has it delivered to her registered paypal address (and how do you check that?) then you would also lose a simple INR claim.

If you want to use a courier arrange it yourself as you still have to pack it and wait in all day for it to be collected but at least you have control. If you want it collected in person, then insist on that.

AS a seller you remain liable for the item and if it gets broken en route you will need to refund the buyer in full for everything they paid for and as you didn't pay for the courier you probably wouldn't have a claim against them for damage either.
