I'd go for mains interlinked myself, with something like this to silence/test the alarm without getting your tea-towel out.
Wiring from a lighting circuit is fine, but you'll need to incorporate a dp switch for maintenance purposes. I suppose in an ideal world, the alarms would be on their own non-RCD protected circuit.0 -
I always install Aico ones and never get any problems
I would suggest ionisation upstairs and lounge, optical in hall and a dual sensor one (EI 2110) smoke & heat in kitchen (or a heat only in kitchen)
I personally would go for a EI 2110 in the kitchen as the advantage of early warning outweighs the occasional nuiscance trippingbaldly going on...0 -
You don't need the RC ones if they are wired together in 3C+E
The radio link is an alternative to interconnecting all the detectorsbaldly going on...0 -
I use the 140 range mainly - the 9V batteries last years as they are only there as a backup
It is more important to have the interconnectbaldly going on...0 -
Speak to your local fire station
They can advise and even come out and fit for free in our area0
