No claims bonus help

As of dec 2009 i had 5 years no claims bonus. i had 2 accidents in 12/08-12/09 one other driver at fault and the second split liability with no admission of guilt from either party. This was with endsleigh. They would only offer me 3 years no claims so i left and went to santander

I then wrote of my car in april 2010.

So do i have any sort of no claims left? it is only since 12/08 i have had a run of bad luck. Santander say they cant insure me (funny since i told them in june i was leaving!)

Can anyone help please?

Normally you would lose 2 years NCB per accident PLUS the year you claim in will not count so if you started with 5 FULL years and had 2 claims which were not recovered they could have dropped you to 1 I am guessing they actually recovered on 1 giving you 3 years NCB
Your next claim (the write off) will have knocked it down to 1 year or 30/33%

BUT and its a big BUT whilst you will have 1 years NCB left you have a very poor record to an insurer plus you have been refused insurance so they will apply loadings (yes it is a bit of a rip off)

Removal of NCB is entirely at their own discretion..... The insurance companies win again.

    Thanks for the replies.

Santanders exact words are they can offer me car insurance due to the number of claims. It may be a bad record but only 2 of these accidents are my fault. Which is why i ended up with a split liability one. But yes like it or not there all guna count against me.

Thanks indoubt96 at the cost of my renewal 1 years ncb is better then nothing. I need my car for my job. Think its guna be a case of sucking it up! :(

Excuse the spelling. They wont/cant offer me car insurance. Infact the comparison sites i tried also came up with insurer cannot quote due to number of claims.

Ok. I'm pretty sure you will be able to get insurance but I'm afraid from your record, it looks as if it will cost you big time. Bad luck it may have been but the end result is the same, you are now classed as a bad risk, sorry, but that's how it presents itself.

Can I suggest you approach some of the town centre insurers directly rather than trying comparison sites. You may have more luch there as I'm pretty sure comparison sites have an inbuilt kind of filter that denies anyoneinsurance over a certain risk category.

Finally there are insurers who specialise in difficult drivers/cases. The name of the largest one of these escapes me at present but they advertise in most motoring magazines, however again, they aren't cheap. Good luck.;)
