Understanding laptop "specs" - Toshiba

I apologize if I am being quite dim but if you can clarify this for me I shall be really grateful.
Toshiba C650-1CT (a Notebook I think) says opposite "Optical Drive" "Plays and records CDs and DVDs." When you hover next to Optical Drive over the "i" it says - Choose an optical drive that suits your needs. There is no green tick and no red X.
Does it mean that ordinary CDs and DVDs can be played on this Toshiba or is something else needed? (I apologise for my ignorance.) I appreciate any help.

Most laptops come with a DVD Player / CD Burner built into them
Where are you getting this information from on the computer specifically?Owner of andrewhope.co.uk, hate cars and love them

Ah,
I understand it now then. It has a CD/DVD Burner inside the laptop
Hence the reason it can play / burn CD's AND DVD's
My laptop has one and it's about 10 years oldOwner of andrewhope.co.uk, hate cars and love them
