I got sacked, from when can I claim housing benefit?

Hello everyone, I got sacked from my long term job on Friday, and I've got an interview to see the JSA tomorrow.
I've got 1 more pay day due also due on Friday, it will be for about £400, and I was wondering if anybody knew whether I could claim for housing benefit this week? Or will I have to pay it out of my wages?
Thank you very much for reading.

You can claim housing benefit from the date your employment ended...although I'd get it done asap because it takes weeks for them to start any sort of payment...0

HB/ LHA is based on income, not on the reason for dismissal.Gone ... or have I?0 -
The HB in my area starts from the Monday following the day you claim. So tomorrow go into the council offices and claim HB, the payments will commence from Monday but they will be paid in arrears so you won't get a payment until the end of next week (and even then they take a while longer especially if all your paperwork is not ready tomorrow, bank statements, tenancy, proof of ID etc), your rent will need to be paid in advance so you'll need to pay it from income or go into 1 or 2 weeks arrears.:footie:
