Anyone in Sydney?

Hi!
I'm off to Sydney in a week and I'm just doing my last minute planning. My main problem seems to be wardrobe based! BF is out there on business and is no help! Is it cardigan weather? Just evening cardigans? Do I need something warmer?
He also said food/beer is expensive. Can anyone recommend a way to keep costs down as I will be on a major budget!
Anything else I should be doing right now before I go?
Thanks!

I live in Sydney. At present the weather has been a bit up and down, we've had rain most days for the last few weeks but next week the sun is supposed to be reappearing (it was forecast at 25C today I I went out without suntan cream and now have red arms).
Beer in pubs is expensive with central Sydney generally being $6 to $7 a schooner (around 375ml),many places do happy hours though. I love James Squire on Darling Harbour after work as between 5 and 6 its $5 a pint which is great value for great beer (we stock up at 5.50pm).
With regard to food a lot of pubs will do $10 meals otherwise head a little bit out of the main CBD area to places like Glebe, Surry Hills & Darlinghurst for cheaper more local food.
Unfortunately with the pound being weak and the Aussie dollar being strong you will find Sydney to be horribly expensive but there are plenty of free/cheap things to do (check previous threads about visiting Australia but for cheaper things I'd recommend the Darling Harbour ferry for a water trip under the bridge, a wander around the botanical gardens, ferry to Manly, bridge towers for nearly as good a view as the bridge climb for a fraction of the price, cocktails at the revolving bar at Australia Square for sunset).
If you are in Sydney for 3 or more days look at getting a travel card. A "my zone 1" covers most (if not all) ferries, all buses and trains within about 10kms of the CBD for $41 a week (equivalent dailies are $20 each).
Hope this help, have a great time in Sydney.0 -
From memory, Oxford Street is a great place for cheap eats. It's one of the streets thats off the bottom end of Hyde Park so It's quite easy to walk to from central Sydney.

Don't forget you need to apply online for your permission to enter the country if you haven't already! Think it costs 15AUD or something like that, but it is a must before you get there.0
