definitely take your complaint to the FOS...without a doubt the best thing to do in these circumstances. When you topped up your loans i take it that you were given a new loan and paid off the previous one? my suspicion is that you did not recieve a pro rata rebate on those loans which were ended early. The fos would uphold those cases where you topped up as HSBC should not have recommended a policy with a non pro rata rebate where it should have known it wa slikely you would refinance again before the end of the loan term. The policies were single premium right? cheers

    Hi

I have referred my claim to the FOS but I was wondering can I still contact the bank to ask if they are going to take my claim off hold now that the decision has been given by the High Court or do I now have to wait for the FOS to contact me?

    Thanks

    Hi there

As soon as you forward your complaint on to the FOS, I understand its then left with the FOS to deal with directly with the bank, but there is no harm in contacting the bank to make sure, good luck.

  • Hi Everyone

So after waiting nearly a year I finally received a letter from HSBC with an offer!!

I did have to go through the FOS and they wrote to me a few weeks ago to say HSBC was going to make me an offer but they weren't going to accept liability!!

I am now not sure whether to accept this offer or go back to HSBC as I do not know if the offer they have made is fair. There are no calculations to show me how they have come to these amounts it just details the amounts that I will get back for the 5 different PPI policies that I took out.

Any advice you could give me would be greatly apprciated.
