  • Some further info would be really useful !

Laptop - Make & model, Operating Sytem, Internet set-up/ broadband provider / dongle, Anti-Virus & firewall, Error message + a description of symptoms and their onset - e.g. Slow onset or rapid etc.

The more information you can provide the more likely someone will be able to offer some assistance.

That just sounds like your dongle internet is terrible. (which isn't that surprising)

Check the reception of your signal, beyond that there isn't much you can do, internet via mobile connections is often bad.

I think you mentioned reloading your OS in the first post too, if you reloaded because of a virus, it might be possible that the virus was hosing your internet connection. If that is the case Vodafone may have throttled your internet connection in line with some fair usage policy.

  • A couple of things come to mind.

First - install all Windows updates and patches. This will minimise any software compatibility issues. As you have re-installed Windows you will be woefully out of date in this regard.

Secondly, try a different browser. Opera seems to be reasonably lightwieght on resources in everyday operaton.

Thirdly, update your Java installation. As you have reinstalled Windows you will be back to using the original Java version it was installed with and, rightly or wrongly, many websites make heavy use of Java.

Broadband (speed) via a dongle is a bit "hit & miss" at the best of times but this should give you a reasonable chance of some decent speed.
