HI ALL
Well just checked my bank account and found out someone as scammed my debit card and made a purchase of £808.34.
The thing thats miffed me is this is way over my overdraft but it as still been authorised by the bank.
Having spoken to card services thay say there is nothing that they can do until the details show up, altohugh one did say it should not go through, and if the funds have not been reinbursed by tomorrow morning give your bank a ring and they should be able to reinburse my account.
I think this was a ploy just to get me of the phone!
Usually if you try to make a payment and it will send you over your over draft it is refused.
I just wondering how i should go about it with my bank?

First of all, they should have put a 'stop' on your card. If not, maybe you should tell them to. Irritating and inconvenient but you don't want more scams on it. [With Barclaycard, I noticed on the Internet about 8 transactions going through in one day - Sweden of all places - cash, flights etc. I reported it immediately, but all they wanted to do was send out a 'disputed transaction' form and would allow me to select only one of them because that's all they coud handle. I insisted they stopped my card, which they reluctantly did.]
Remember that they will start off assuming that you are the culprit (or close member of the family). But just keep on at them. Put a summary in writing. Eventually they will investigate the circumstances and should be able to prove to their own satisfaction that it was fraud.0 -
i must admit the guy i spoke to this morning was rather helpful, said there was nothing he could do until transaction was showing. i have cancelled the card once i found out.
The guy this morning ring me back 10 mins after speaking to him saying they will put the disputed amount back on my account, however the transaction will still come out sooner or later, but it will give you your balance to spend in the meantime. then you can start the disputed claim.0
