Change of passenger name - £135!

I was due to go on holiday with my friend next week but had an accident and broke my elbow 3 days ago and just had an operation to put plate in. My friend's mum said she would go in my place and I enquired about changing name on ticket. I was quoted £135 by the operator I booked it through (bookable holidays .co.uk) although when I phoned up Thomas Cook - as it was one of their holidays I was told that their charge would be £50 (less than 56 days to date of holiday) and they were appauled that another travel operator was effectively 'creaming off' £80 as a result of my injury. Is there anything I can do about this - has anyone had a similar expereince? Incidentally, when I actually got a phone number for Bookable holidays, it was an 0871 number that rambled on and on for about 10 minutes before actually getting to someone..........talk about adding insult to injury!

With the likes of Easyjet and Ryanair it can cost you that just to change the name on a plane ticket.

Remember, you have agreed to the terms & conditions of 'Bookableholidays.co.uk', which are over and above the terms of Thomas Cook.
My mother booked her holiday through OTB, and now wants to add an extra suitcase onto the EZY flight. OTB will gladly do it for her, but will charge £30.00 over & above the £18.00 EZY charge for the suitcase.I used to be a Travel Agent Used to be a travel agent for 23 Years, but now out of the industry. It isn't though, it's a change in passenger.Change of passenger name0 -
Bookable seem to be able to find a way to make a profit on everything. When a number of tour operators went bust this summer, customers were entitled to a full refund but Bookable decided to take £40 a passenger of the refunds as an admin charge, something no other travel agent even considered. Remember this whenever you decide to book in the future!0
