ASDA Car Insurance

Following a good recommendation from a friend I decided yesterday to go with ASDA for my car insurance. I was picking the car up from my parents and needed the insurance to drive it home, 40mins away.
After confirming the deposit my policy/cover was set up. However upon checking this on their website I found that the cover was due to start at 23:45pm.
I couldn't understand why it would not be automatic like every other company I've used. The call center shut 20mins before and all I had was an email address for customer service. I emailed and after 4hrs no reply, and they shut.
I have asthma and my parents chain smoke. I really wanted to get home away from the smoke so I took out a policy with someone else, got instant cover and went home.
Now ASDA are saying that a group called Panacea finance ltd are processing the deposit. I've contacted them and asda to stop it.
But even with their 14day cooling off period it looks like they are going to try and keep it. Which I can't afford its £111.
I canceled the policy last night before the cover started, however it's now saying I can't cancel my policy due to them not receiving my NCB.
Any ideas or help would be gratefully received as I'm getting really stressed over this and I know it will effect my IBS.
