IE disconnecting

Went wireless about a month ago, with a netgear thing.
Anyway when I leave my laptop, overnight or during the day, and then try to use IE, it says the page is not available. Sometimes I can say work off line, then say to refresh and then say yes to the connect prompt and it all works.
If that doesn't work I have to re-start.
Any suggestions?

It is to do with security of the wireless router/gateway have you entered a new passphase then entered that into your laptop. This is to protect your network and your computers.0

Confession time, I'm not protected, the likelyhood of anyone being on my network is currently very low:o Email seems OK, most of the time

Could you give me the model name/number of the netgear and I will look into it for you. And the security of the network is very easy to setup and run, its every 3 days that it moves all the wireless computers onto a completely differnet IP system until they enter the new passphrase or WEP/WPA(2) keys into the wireless computers and of course the network owner had to enter that into the gateway/router first. lol0

have you tried another browser such as firefox?
if you changed from dial up to broadband recently check under the 'connections' tab in Internet options and see if there are any left over settings.
And please set some security up...Ever stop to think and forget to start again?0 -
I'll try Firefox in the morning, or when I get a chance anyway.
I did try setting up security, main comp XP, another 2000 and the third ME. I think it was ME didn't want to play ball. Will be all XP at christmas.
All firewalled up, so it would be just nicking the internet use, or am I very naive:eek:0 -
Problem is if anyone downloads anything illegal and it gets traced back to your account there is no way you can prove it wasn't you. Extreme example but possible.
Is you ME pc wireless? If so that might have an issue with WPA. The least you could look into at the moment is switching off your SSID and using MAC address filtering. Wont stop a determined person, but the casual user wont be able to connect in a hurry.Ever stop to think and forget to start again?0 -

All are wireless, which is fan-bloomin-tastic:j
Some one else mentioned the MAC thing. I take it I need to id the three addresses. How?
Must bookmark this thread for tommorrow;)
Help is appreciated:D0 -
at a command / dos prompt type 'ipconfig /all'
you will see a physical address - this is your mac address on that pc.
on the routers web interface you need to enter this into the wireless settings access list.
should also be the option to disable your ssid on that page too.Ever stop to think and forget to start again?0 -

I keep getting the same at the mo, the only way I can get back online is if I release and renew my IP as well as flushing DNS.
Netgear router as well, but I am as secure as a mafia mob bosses teenage daughter
