Thanks Faz for your recommendation.
I also have been recommending this great website for a long time now. If you need to know anything about your 'reactions to food' the Webmaster is a qualified medician and has lots of vital information and links to obtaining the right products for your problems.
cheers

my 11 month old has omneo comfort milk cos he couldn't cope with the normal stuff. does anyone know if this milk would be better for him than normal cows milk when he reaches 12 months? thanks in advance.Cleaning the house while children are growing is like shovelling snow when it's still snowing!0

My children all suffer from lactose/milk intollerance. If you do try alternative etc be aware that goats milk has the same proteins in it as cows milk (plus it smells distgusting)!
It is woth also noting that if your children are suffering you can get pepti junior on prescription which has all of the proteins removed!
Adults just have to suffer or pay a fortune for the previlage of a suffering free time!
A good spread to try as an alternative for your firends/family is either Pure or vitalite! This will help ease bloating etc for those who have problems and is great for cooking etc!
I was able to get a money off vouvher from the Pure website and they sent a recipie(!!) book too.0 -
I am intolerant to so many things I have to watch all my diet...
I've not tried Lactofree/Lactolite etc, and I refuse Soya milk due to the taste.
I use Provamel Rice Milk, which has a taste not too different from skimmed milk, but without any of the problems associated with milk content intolerances, and the range includes Organic & Extra Calcium.
Works for me..... !!0 -

How is your toddler/baby suffering?
My youngest used to scream the place down and it caused excema (cant spelll for the life of me at minute)! Switched to pepti junior as my twins used it, screaming stopped skin problems went away.
When my twins went onto cows milk they had constant rashes on their faces as they got a little older they immediatley broke out in hives!
Health visitor was no use just stamped my feet at doctors to get referred to dietician who authorised the pepti junior. Works wonders plus saves me a fortune!0 -
Its so reassuring to see other people on here who understand about intolerances. It is slowly becoming apparant that my daughter is allergic to all sorts of products, inc cows milk. She is awake several hours a night, after so many different meals, in distress screaming etc. Also my 3year old, seems to improve sleepwise when on soya products. My husband and I are shattered! Anyway i wish you all luck. And if there is are other information sites, please do let me know!

I've been using lactofree for a while now as i'm lactose intolerant and it's made a huge difference. However, I also take LACTASE tablets (from Holland and Barrett) for when I have to drink "normal" milk. Lactase breaks down the lactose (milk sugars)............

Have you tried Prolactazyme Forte Capsules? Although these actually contain around half the amount of Lactase as the Holland & Barrett's "Super Lactase Enzyme" myself and others have in fact found it to be much more effective.
The reason seems to be two fold. The H & B capsules are simply high dose Lactase in a gelatin capsule which I understand barely makes it past the stomach acid.
Whereas the Forte is a dairy digesting complex (inc. Lactase & good bacterias) specifically designed to withstand the stomach acid. Also contains no gelatin!
I used to use the Forte regularly, then someone bought me the H & B which I tried instead for a while. My symptoms actually got worse and it took me a while to accept the reality that a higher dose of Lactase enzymes could actually be less effective! I even tried doubling the recommended dose of the H & B which made no real difference. Switched back to the Prolactazyme and things got much better.
If milk's your main concern I'd recommend adding a few drops of Lactase Enzyme Liquid to ordinary milk to make your own Lactose free milk! Heard very positive things about this although I haven't personally tried this myself as I'm not a big milk drinker. I just have the occasional Lactofree UHT, the new name for Lactolite and now thankfully semi rather than full fat.
Both products available via the following site amongst other places: http://www.foodreactions.org/products/digestive_enzymes.html
If you try the Prolactazyme Forte capsules try taking them around 10 minutes or so before your meal as this tends to maximize the effects.

This stuff is wonderful! After the freebie, I have been buying it on a regular basis, and it really has done the trick for me.0
