Tell them as soon as you can, you might be in trouble or you might not, but if you are, and you leave it you'll be a lot worse off. You are supposed to tell them about any chance in circumstance.

Yes im going to ring first thing in the morning. Im hoping tho that i belive i would of been entitled to more housing benifit as im on same wage but have a extra child evan tho i have not been claiming for it. I shouldn't owe money should i?

It's pretty unlikely that you will owe anything, but I can't confirm it 100%. You really do need to sort it soon though as informing them of changes of circumstance is a legal obligation.

So you aren't getting child benefit, child tax credits, and working tax credits for your new child? Don't automatically assume because your wages haven't increased your other income (benefits) won't be taken into account when re assessing your housing benefit entitlement.

  • I can't understand why you didn't tell them? I would of thought you would be entitled to more money not less for having an extra child, that's how it works in my area anyway. Also if you were working and took Maternity Leave surely your income dropped so you would have been entitled to more help (This all assuming they don't already pay your rent in full). I think you need to get straight down there and sort this out.
