CDs some never played - car boot - how much?

I've never done a CBS. I've about 30 CDs some have never been played (but have been unwrapped) and others played only 2 or 3 times. Range from opera, country, popular etc. Would it be worth my selling them - I was going to give them to charity shop. If so, roughly how much? If I did do a CBS then I do have quite a bit of other "stuff" I could sell to make the exercise worthwhile (hopefully!).

Depends if they are popular/rare. Check online for prices play.com & amazon etc. If they are £1.99 with free post then dont
expect to sell them.

CDs don't actually sell that well at Boot Fairs from my experience, worth taking however if you have a batch of other stuff as it might cover the entry fee. You wouldn't get much more than a pound each fo them and would also have to suffer the 'Will you take 20p for that one' brigade.

You should also consider learning Polish and several dialects of African before you actually consider doing a boot fair otherwise you will be unable to understand most of the customers :-)

About 3 yeas ago I bought up sveral hundred unused still sealed CDS from a recording studio/shop that was closing down.

Some turned out to be extremely rare imports and i sold all those through ebay. They were listed on Amazon at prices up to £50 but I never ever sold any on there as I don't think people realised some of these CDs were ever available. However the more popular ones I couldn't sell at all and this summer I was still trying to car boot them at 10p each. I have now finally given up, sold most of the remaining to musicmagpie at mostly 30p each and charity shopped quite a lot of the rest.

I've still got a couple of the very rare ones still on Amazon and will probably list them on ebay soon to see if there is any interest still.

pay cash for CDs and DVDs just put in the barcode and they give you a price.

I agree that boot sales are hit and miss for cds/dvds and books. People will expect to pay 20p-£1 tops and very few will stop to rummage. Stalls at boot sales tend to attract more attention if you have a wide range of stuff rather than a particular product and they are good for decluttering but not big money earners, IMO.

Musicmagpie pays 30p each for most pop cds. Surprisingly they often offer more for classical stuff, even if it is stuff that was purchased cheaply in the first place. They also provide free postage envelopes, so although the payment is low, it is an easy way of getting some cash if you have a lot to shift.

Most people buying at CBS are skip rats wanting something for 10p/20p, I am amazed that some even manage to get out of bed. If it wasn't for the cashing the giro on a Monday they never would. You will also get the dealers/wide boys who also offer 10p/20p then promptly go and flog it on Ebay for far more. Do your research on Amazon/Ebay and see what they are actually selling for...standing in a muddy cold field and being abused in Albanian or Polish is not many peoples idea of fun..As above, you'll be lucky to get 10p or 20p unless they're rare in which case ...sell elsewhere

Oh yes by miles. I probably spent less than £40 over the course of 3 auctions buying the stuff up..I got £25 each for a few of the CDs on ebay, £15 a go for several others and sold about 80+ more for £1 a go as well.

I didn't even know this stuff was rare...a 'lost' recording of Peter and the Wolf with famous names from pop playing the instruments and some early Phil Collins when he was probably still in his teens. Started it all at a £1 a piece, and had a bidding frenzy and as I had duplicates I just kept sending second chance offers.

I've got 3 sealed boxes of cheaper items still left and i take a few every time i car boot and usually expect 10p -20p a go for them to casual browsers.

As I killed the market for some of the labels I did sell a few dozen on musicmagpie. I only got 30p a go for them but even though i was cheapest on Amazon at £16+ I realised i was unlikely to ever sell them on there as these things were so rare that no one would browse for them

Nice useful post............not, I have never had a Giro in my 47 years as a Uk citizen, I get out of bed for work at 5am weekdays so a line-in for me is 7am so plenty of time for me to go to a bootsale hoping for a bargain
