Hi there,
Today my work colleagues and I were told that from next Monday that we are to finish work an hour earlier every day and not work a friday (which we normally only work for 4 hours) and that is for a minimum of 2 months and we were given a sheet of paper with the details on.
Now im sure we are all happy-ish to do this being as we suspect that the company is struggling and, of course, we all want to keep our jobs but during this meeting when one worker asked the director "What if we dont want to do this 4 days week or aren't happy with it?", his answer was "Well you know where the door is" which i thought a mildly rude answer. What id like to know, just out of interest, is have the company correctly followed the procedure where reduced working hours are concerned?
Thank you in advance!

what does it say in your contract about working hours?[SIZE=-1]To equate judgement and wisdom with occupation is at best . . . insulting.

Hi, sorry for the late reply. Ok, i've looked and it does indeed say that they can implement short hours with no notice.
However, we have today been given a letter that doesn't say that there will be redundancies but explains what pay we would recieve etc. But what it doesn't say is what notice they will give us, i've looked in the company handbook and it doesn't even mention redundancies!! How much notice do they have to give please? Not yet a total moneysaving expert...but im trying!!0
