dripping tap..changed washers..

but that is not the problem. I have to use a cloth to get good grip to "turn off" the taps so tightly to stop the drip, is there a way of adjusting the taps to make the drips stop applying normal "turn-off" force..thanks to anyone with tips !

They have worn "seats" and you may need to "reseat" the taps, I'd change the taps if I was you as you may end up wasting effort in reseating them, I speak from experience lol

    Hi.

You could try stripping the headworks down , clean, silicon grease and reassemble. They become dry and get ever harder to turn off.

I agree - service the headgear first.

  • I had forgotten to mention that this is a kitchen tap, and a mixer type, I appreciate all the tips but dismantling etc might be be a little beyond my DIY skills, so may be a new one will be the solution...anyone know a reasonably priced plumber in Hunstanton area , Norfolk, (Heacham actually) that they could reccommend. many thanks..I didnt think anyone would bother to reply !!! :j

No its that brass part of the tap that you removed in order to be able to replace the washer. You know the bit that looks like this:
