Hi there,
I just downloaded vista beta 2 from official microsoft site and installed on laptop. I have also activated it. Working fine. I understand that the beta will end in june 07 so I take it vista will stop working around this time, or maybe give 30 days grace to buy a copy if available.
Just as a matter of interest, if I was to make an image backup of beta vista partition now and reinstall after june 07 with windows update not enabled, internet time syncronization (a feature of vista) also disabled, and the laptop on present date and time i.e october 06 will I be able to use vista for 30 day periods until I buy a copy of vista or until the 30 day time to activate runs out?
Just a question as I'm curious about this
many thanks

No........what makes you think that just because you tell Windows not to synchronise with Microsoft's atomic time server, that it takes any notice of you?
Try disabling Windows Update and Windows Firewall under XP.............you'll be amazed that it doesnt matter how many times you do this, you'll find both processes still running.
The stubborn firewall is a nightmare if you're trying to configure a network :mad:You'll always miss 100% of the shots you don't take - Wayne Gretzky

From what is detailed in the RC2 it will still work after the deadline but in a reduced capacity... You will be able to browse the net and get your e-mails and maybe run Office but thats all. As for running it after... You would need to completely disconnect it from the internet as it uses it for the sidebar RSS feeds, weather reports and pretty much any other gadgets all of which will use time/date stamps to keep up to date and therefore give windows the correct date time without the need to synchronise with internet time.
Also... Vista will be available for purchase long before June so you wont have to stall to get a retail copy.0 -
RC2 is now closed..... It was only up for around 18 hours... No more official sources0
