Siblu vs Keycamp

Options
I’m looking to go on a camping trip to France next year and I’ve been looking at Siblu and Keycamp. I’ve done quotes for a number of sites in France for top spec accommodation and Siblu are consistently around 100 – 150 cheaper.

I was wondering if there was a vast difference in the facilities it offers on the park. On paper they look to be very similar, they all have pools and kids clubs etc. Anyone out there every holiday in both that can give a comparison? The holiday is for the kids so I wouldn’t mind paying a bit extra for extra kids facilities but if the parks are similar ill go for the cheaper option. An English comparison would be haven vs butlins; butlins being the most expensive but with stacks more to do onsite.

Also is it worth booking ferries separately or let the tour operator do it?

  • i would say that their is very little difference between them , i use eurocamp which is really the same as keycamp, as for the ferrys they are included in the price , with keycamp/eurocamp suspect siblu as well , the holiday companies get cheaper fares as they book large numbers of places on the ferrys cheaper than you could buy them . most sites you will see Siblu, keycamp, eurocamp , canvas plus lots of other companies on the same site, so makes no difference , lots of the activities on the site are run by the site itself , we use eurocamp every time as we get loyalty discounts . They all do the loyalty thing. The french sites are really good with the amination entertainment which is open to all whatever company you are staying with.

Find a campsite you like the look of, and then go onto trip advisor. We've done several of these holidays and used Keycamp 5 times and Eurocamp once. Never used Siblu. We drove past one Siblu site - it was situated off a main roundabout whereas the campsite we were at was right on the beach. Can't comment on the ferry situation as we have always flown - south of France or Italy; generally with Easyjet.

We're going to Siblu for the second time in June next year. They can do the ferries for you or you can arrange it yourself. We used Eurotunnel instead this year, and will do so again next year. it was far cheaper, and I hate sailing, so no choice really.

We haven't been to Keycamp, so can't compare, but would recommend tripadvisor.

They are tour operators who do not have exclusive use of a particular site and most of them (Siblu, Keycamp, Eurocamp etc) use the same campsites, so the facilities are those of the park itself, not of the holiday company - they would be exactly the same whichever company you book with. The differences will be the kids clubs and the reps. The mobile homes may vary slightly in quality, and tend to be dotted around the site, so you could end up nextdoor to a mobile home from another company. Personally, if Siblu are that much cheaper, I'd book with them and use the money for extra treats while on holiday.

Thanks for the replies, if the parc are all very similar i may as well go witht he cheapest :T.
  • Eurocamp and Keycamp are owned by the same people. Eurocamp tends to be slightly pricier. There's also Thompson Al Fresco, and Canvas holidays. We've been doing these for years- starting off with the now defunct Eurosites. However, we now tend to use Canvas- they still include a mid-week Dover/Calais crossing with the initial price, whereas many others have stopped doing so.

    Hi

If you're considering camping in France then it's worth looking at www.ukcampsite.co.uk

There are campsite reviews on this site including French campsites and so you can get a feel for a campsite. You'll also find lots of useful info about camping in France.

It also may be worth seeing if the campsite of your choice has any tent / mobile home accomodation that they rent out as it will possibly be cheaper.

If you decide to book your own ferry then consider Norfolkline. I paid £60 for a return trip Dover to Dunkerque with car + roofbox & 4 passengers.

Enjoy your holiday in France !

Also check out Vacan Soleil , as well as Siblu etc, for prices. Dutch owned. Our mobile homes were really clean, had a nice amount of outside space and many of the interior items (plates, pillows, saucepans etc) were all brand new or nearly new.

Price was great but I might have just been lucky.
