building insurance for a flat??

im hoping to get a buy to let property soon and have noticed that getting building insurance for flat type properties seems quite a bit more tricky than with houses.

can anyone advise of a cheap insurer or way to go on this?

thanks

also say ive bought one of a block of three flats, how does the insurance work exactly?

do the landlords or owners of each property have to come together and liase to get a policy between them and equally split the bill. or does each owner take out a seperate policy covering the full rebuild each or how does it work?

You probably need to get your solicitor to check this.

Usually I think the freeholder gets the insurance, you probably pay for your portion under any maintenance costs you have to pay.

Definitely find out first though as you dont want to be paying twice!! :)

I just pop in now and then.... :)
