hi, and apologies if this q has been answered somewhere else !
Attached to my semi detached house is a ground floor flat roof, 3500 w x 6000 long, i'd like a 1st floor build on top with pitched roof.
i just want a shell job and it would be finished off when funds allow. does anyone have an idea of costs?
i'm south east area (if that makes any difference !)

Depends on the construction of the existing single storey bit and whether it is suitable to be built off directly. Need to know more before you can get any guide prices.0

You may well find that the foundations to the garage are completely unsuitable to support the weight of a first floor extension. the only way to find out is to get a buiolder in to excavate down to the foundations of the garage to take measurements and then ask Building Control what their requirements are.
It may turn out more cost effective to have the garage knocked down and rebuilt with new foundations rather than trying to underpin etc.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0 -
hi, thanks for your reply. the extension isn't a garage and it was built same time as house by builder as council wanted the district nurse to use it as her surgery. so basically it's part of the house, so foundations would be the same as house. so it would be brick construction with pitched roof. 3500 wide x 6000 long, just an approx figure would be helpful.
thanks
