Hello pet peeps!
I've just launched my own cat sitting service. I already work for a dog walking company but want to branch out on my own.
I'm not sure what to do regarding my website and wanted some advice from all you pet people out there.....
Would you be put off if a website didnt have a complete price list but wanted you to ring or email for a quote? I've basically put that prices start from £X for Y amount of time, but no other info.
Other companies local to me dont seem to advertise their prices online.
What do you all think?
Thanks muchly

What matters most is how well you walk through the fire

Personally I prefer companies to be upfront about pricing. If I'm looking for a service in all likelihood it's going to be in an evening and I like to do my surfing and make a decision so I don't want to be forced to wait for the information.
So for cat sitting, I would want to know:
what areas you cover
pricing for a single visit a day
two visits a day
whether rates vary depending on my location - i.e. extra travelling for you
whether rates are higher on bank holidays
whether extra visits can be made
how long each visit will be (minimum)
whether it is extra for extra cats and if so, how much
what your visit will comprise of

It would also be helpful maybe if you could get some references from clients on your website. I agree with the above post that pricing info upfront would be something I'd look for, plus time spent with the animal. When my cats were alive, I used a cat sitter who used to text me every day to tell me everything was ok, that they'd eaten etc. That was a great service to offer as it gave me peace of mind.0

Hi Pigeonpie, thanks for your reply.
I shall look into getting some quotes for the website.
The texting service is one I shall already be offering. As a cat owner myself, id also find that incredibly comforting!

Have a look at my dogwalker website, they also offer dog boarding and cat sitting, puppy training etc - all prices and all info are on the website:

Also - photos of happy dogs on their walks (Gallery part of the site) and happy dogs from boarding and cats from cat visits.. that sems to convince people - lots of photos...

How about considering other types of small animals too? I have ferrets and we have to drive about 45 mins to drop them off with the sitter each time we go away. A local person who could come in once a day, let them out of the cage to play for 30-60mins, top up food/water and scoop the litter box would be very useful!
I am sure other small animals like bunnies and guinea pigs would be similarly easy!Trust me - I'm NOT a doctor!0 -
Hi babyshoes, thanks, yes im also covering small animals even chickens!
My insurance allows me to care for any small animal in a home environment so ive already put rabbits, guineas etc on my website. What matters most is how well you walk through the fire0 -
It wouldnt put me off not having an exact price but an estimate would be good.
What a good idea!0
