Dishwasher tripping electrics

I put my dishwasher on the other day and lots of water came out the sides and bottom, I guessed that I had not shut the door properly so opened and closed it again. The dishwasher worked for about a further 4 or 5 mins then the ring main tripped out. Worked out that it was the dishwasher that caused it so switched it off and left it a while. Each time now I close the door the electrics trip again. Does anyone know what might have happened and how I can sort it out please ?
I have had this thing out a couple of times in the past when glass was stuck in the pump and also when there was water in the drip tray. I have no problem in taking it apart but I wonder where the fault might be.
Hope someone can point me in the right direction......
Thanks Lizzy

What make is the dishwasher and how old is it as it may be the ribbon cabling in the door is frayed and shorts to earth.0

My 18month old Indisit (not my choice of brand I may add) did this both PCB's in it ended up being replaced the one behind the buttons and the other one. It was done for a fixed fee repair from Indisit. But the machine is total rubbish and wont be having this done again!0

My guess would be the water. Unplug it, remove the outer panels and dry it out. Oh, and look for connectors that are sat in the drip tray - found one on ours, so supported it out of the way with a cable tie.

It is a Hotpoint BF1620 and about 5 years old. It just about does the job and can't afford a new one.
can the ribbon cabling be repaired/replaced ?
I will try the drip tray again Brian, it's worth a try but as for the control panel board that's a bit much for me really.
Thanks all for the ideas.

HI all
It was water in the drip tray, quite a lot as well. No wonder it was tripping the electrics, when it has had water in the drip tray before it was only lights on the panel that flashed but it did not trip anthing so I thought it was something else.
It is just doing a load of dishes right now, so always worth having a go.0 -
Just be careful thats its unplugged any time you are working on it - you are more important than the dishes!
Sorry to mollycoddle - I'm a new grandad0 -
