Mystery RBS search on credit report...

Just checked my credit report with Experian, which made interesting reading! I've been having trouble getting credit, and having looked at the report, the only obvious reason for this is the number of searches that have been done in the past few months. There were 7 in total.

Three of these were for my mortgage, which is more than I'd have expected, but still fair enough.

Then there are two from RBS, which I note have been reported by others here as 'unauthorised' searches. The full text reads:

Searched By: RBS PLC IRO OF UKI PARTNERSHIPS Application Type: Insurance

I haven't applied for insurance during the period specified, and was wondering if anyone had managed to clear up why so many people get this entry, seemingly without doing anything to warrant it?

tx!

Only the search footprints created by credit applications are used in credit scoring and you would probably need quite a few in quick succession to cause you problems to be honest. If you drop my colleague a line using the email address in my biog, providing your report reference number and identifying which searches you dispute we'll look into it for you. All searches of your credit report should be authorised, so we will happily investigate any you don't recognise.
