Quick question...

There's a likelihood that there will be redundancies made in my organisation and so I am preparing myself, just in case (I panic about suchlike things!).

I was just hoping someone could give me a quick answer so I can start my financial planning!

I've been employed continously by this organisation for 2 years, though initially I was on fixed-term contracts (I have been permanent since March). There has been no break in contract, and I have not been required to reapply for my job.

With this in mind, does anyone know if I would still be entitled to full redundancy pay??

Any help much appreciated.

Generally, the problem is the 'not knowing' about these things, I know it's likely, so I want to plan, but can't really, because nothing's 100%.

  • Please only take this as a small indication of a correct answer as i am in no way clued-up but..........

Having recently been made redundant myself i have been trawling the internet in search of some answers (I'm sure you've probably been doing the same) and believe that i've read on a website somewhere (although can't remember which one or where, sorry) that if you've been employed by the same employer for 2 years or more, even on a fixed term contract, that you are entitled to redundancy.

As i say, I'm not 100% on this but am pretty certain i read it somewhere. If you haven't already, it may be worth checking out the direct.gov website - at least there you know the information they give is correct (or at least you'd like to think so). I found it quite helpful.

    Good luck.
