Enrolment and ID number?

Filling in a form it says:
"If your education establishment has a set format your enrolment/ID number may not be recognised if you do not use this format and your application may be rejected. Check with your education establishment if you are not sure. "
My question is - Enrolment or ID number or is it the same thing??? is that the student ID number on the student card I carry around with me to get in and out of the Uni? Thanks in advance.

Probably depends on the uni, but I think in my case they were the same thing
