Can someone help me find a diagnostic tool for a dell stuido 1735 to check the hard drive. Its my brothers laptop and when it turns on it freezes on the vista loading screen. I have tried to format the hard drive using windows xp discs but the BSOD comes on just before i get the option to format.

have you wiped the recovery partition, if not, restore to factory defaults, assuming you are happy to lose your data.

Hi
I would suggest you download the iso of Hiren's Boot cd. There are HD Diagnostic tools within Hiren Plus loads of other usefull apps.
Hope this helpsMick :hello:0 -
