Free motor legal protection?

Hello

My mate says that he has been offered free motor legal protection when he placed an advert with Auto Trader.

Having just renewed my car insurance with Autonet I noted that they offered me motor legal protection for an additional fee of £30.

I'd rather pay nothing and spend £30 on a takeway for the family. Does anyone know where I can pick up one of these policies for free please?

Thanks
Dan

No need for them these days, Any no win no fee company will do the job for you.

Years ago an uninsured driver damaged my car, Legal protectoin was a waste of time, They said they
could not trace him. Even though he was still living at the same address as his parents.

I bet you can't get a firm to recover your excess for you.

They are only interested in the jobs with juicy fees attached, not all the jobs. They can take on which ones they want and not the others.

I've got free legal cover with Adrian Flux. Not sure if it's any good but I did no want to pay my £25 again this year. Hopefully I will not need them!.
  • Legal cover is not necessary, imo.

Look at it from this point of view - how many people have legal cover as opposed to those that do not? Not sure? That's because it doesn't matter. If it mattered, you should have heard about it either on the news, telly, newspaper, panorama whatever. If it was necessary, it would be included in your insurance cover.

The only time you will hear legal cover mentioned is when someone is trying to sell you it, or a product affiliated with it.

Legal cover only comes in useful if an accident is not your fault. If an accident is your fault, then you usually can't claim anything anyway.

If a claim looks like it is heading to court and an insurer actually has an interest in this, they will finance the legal fees themselves.

Legal cover is not a magic add on that will make you win a claim. Either the insurer thinks is is your fault or not. Nothing can really change that.

As forgot said, no need. Personally, I will never knowingly purchase legal cover for a motor policy.

It is all smoke and mirrors. As Norman said, they gave it to him free. That is because it is a non product.

If you have an accident and it isn't your fault, you will have people falling over you to help, seriously. And if it is your fault c'est la vie.

    Get a takeaway mate.

If you need me to elaborate, or if you have any questions, let me know.

Legal cover is just a sham. You try and get the insurance co to do anything for you under that cover. They will deny everything and say it isnt covered. Absolute rubbish and a con.
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..
