What does this file do exactly??

I ask because i have 7 instances of this being open when i look in the task manager...... is it neccessary to have all these open or do they relate to various different programs?

any help would be most appreciated

It monitors the amount of dirties you download mate.

Already run virus checks and checked with the various scanners in the sticky thread at the top and nothing is showing as a virus on any other nasties. So ill assume that its all down to the various .dll files that are loading up as mentioned in that link.

The svchost.exe file is located in the C:\Windows\System32 folder. In other cases, svchost.exe is a virus, spyware, trojan or worm!

No problem, the above is the bit to take notice of.

yeah just had a check and the file is where it should be so it looks like im ok :beer:
