Golocatefuel.co.uk - It's a CON!

:mad:DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. - golocatefuel.co.uk

In all this company had my payment, in excess of £220, for 38 days and at the end of this I received no heating oil!! That is 24 days BEFORE I cancelled the order due to lack of choice. I have been told it will be at least 7-10 days before I get my refund. Currently it has been 9 days with no sign.

I am always willing to give the new guy on the block a chance and despite not finding any reviews of the site online, I decided to give them a go as they were a bit cheaper than my usual online supplier. Big mistake!

I used them as below. 500 litres oil ordered 28th Sept 2010. Economy delivery chosen which when the small print is read can be up to 14 working days – therefore amounting to 3 WEEKS! That is bad enough (although technically my problem as I should have read the small print) but my oil should have been delivered after 14 days maximum but after 17 days I was still without fuel. After 10 days I started ringing regularly to be told they were having problems with their supplier and it would normally have been with me by now. They’ll call me end of this week/beginning of next but it did say could be up to 14 days delivery.

After 14 days I called them twice a day to be told they were still having problems with the supplier, causing a bit of a back log but if I called tomorrow they’d advise me a delivery slot. Day 15 they said the same again. Day 16 I was told the supplier could not be contacted by them to find out when my slot was and if in fact he was able to deliver to me at all!! Day 17 I called them to cancel the order to be told to hold fire for an hour, as they had the list from the supplier in. One hour later on day 17 I was told they would not be able to deliver to me for a few more weeks, would I like to cancel? It will be between 7 and 10 days before the refund is received

I am waiting to see how long the refund will take (currently 9 days to 3rd Nov 2010) but won’t be holding my breath and in some ways doubt I will even receive it. No doubt there will arguments to follow. I am posting this now so other people are not getting ripped off in the same way as me. I am also looking into whether anything can be done to report the activities of a company such as this as they are obviously a con. Any ideas of where to go would be appreciated. I have since read one review of someone receiveing the same treatment.

    How did you pay?

    Have you contacted Trading Standards?
  • I paid by Visa Debit card so the bank are trying to look into getting my money back. Sending me out a form.

I intend to go to trading standards as I'm sure businesses like this have to be monitored for bad trading practices. I hope so at least!
  • I had a similar problem with Golocate, had to pay an extra £25.00 for a guaranteed delivery. Which I didn't receive when I was supposed to, eventually it turn up four days later. When I read my receipt from the oil company, I saw that it had only just been ordered the day before. I contacted Trading Standards for a second time who then told me that Golocate were in Breach of Contract twice and that I was to send a letter by recorded delivery requesting my £25.00 back because the orginal contract was the one they should of honoured and I should never of been asked to pay the extra money. I sent them a recorded letter a week ago and gave them 10 working days to repay the extra £25.00, to date they have not even acknowledge my letter. Will keep you updated as to when or if they reply. The Trading Standards Officer gave me the name of the company they trade under and their address. I you need the address let me know and I write it on this site for you.
  • Hi Folks,
Can not believe how many of us have been conned by this so called company, we have paid £443, and phoned, and phoned, answer machine, will ring you back, never do, this started 15th Oct, money taken on the 19th, still no fuel by the 8th Nov, expected us to pay another £35, they would pay the other £35, as for a priorty delivery it was £70, or a reduced amount of fuel for origanal price, which i told them was totally unacceptable, demanded my money back, was told supplier had been paid and to write a letter, if you find there terms and conditions, the supplier is not paid till delivery is made, wrote letter special delivery, bank is now taking case up, watch this space.

  • Hi all

today i have posted a recorder letter to the address on the website. i ordered and payed 483.00 on the 20th oct.
i have asked for my refund folling instructions and have been ignored by Ben@golocatefuel.co.uk

I have tried to call the company and now it rings out... i wouldnt blame all the staff for leaving!!!
what a nightmare, i am now struggling to make ends meet after freezing for over 3 weeks and finally had to pay another company to deliver the fuel.
Please let me know if and when anyone gets a refund from them

    amanda xx
  • I have also had a similar experience with this company. Ordered fuel on 16Th October and 4 weeks later when it hadn't arrived had to cancel and request a refund. Still awaiting refund - managed to speak to someone in accounts who told me I had to wait until there were sufficient refund requests before they could take it to the MD to be signed off and couldn't give me a date when that would be. The conversation got rather heated and ended with her saying that if I continued to say I was taking the matter further she would ensure that they held on to my money for the maximum time possible. Spoke to consumer direct, who said regardless of terms and conditions they have 30 days to deliver the fuel and then a further 30 days to refund before being in breach of contract. Her advice was to contact my credit card company and obtain the appropriate documentation in anticipation of nothing happening. I only used this company as it was MARGINALLY cheaper and recommended BY THIS WEBSITE. I have learnt my lesson!
  • Hi - just found this thread. - YES, This 'firm' is definitely a con. I paid for my oil before the big freeze & was also promised a delivery week. Was worried when freeze hit - tried e-mail, repeated calls (answerphone on 24/7) Finally got through to be told 'Your order has been GROUPED, will be with you within a day or so. - Needless to add, it wasn't & still isn't! Asked for name of the oil company so I could 'phone them for rough delivery date, was told 'We don't know that - it's to stop people chasing them' !' - Pardon? The almost worst part, despite being pensioner with no heating or hot water, is the now-rocketed oil price, so even if another company can deliver before Christmas, I am paying more for 500 litres than I have already paid for 750. No luck since with either 'phone or e-mail, so can't even ask for a refund - let alone expect one!
I suppose we should live and learn. So Heed this costly lesson. Don't touch GoLocate! Off to cuddle up to the dog. Happy Christmas All.
