Very slow laptop

Good Afternoon

My laptop has really slowed recently. IT has also had the "Blue screen of Death" showing a couple of times. I recently upgraded my AVG free virus scanner to 2011 version and this really has slowed the start up. The internet keeps crashing too.

My laptop is just over 3 years old and I got it from Comet.

Malwarebytes

Hijack This

Post your Hijack This log into this thread for posters to comment and/or recommend action.

Open Windows Task Manager and click the "Performance" tab. Post here the numbers relating to: "Commit Charge" i.e. "Total", "Limit" and "Peak".

Chances are it could be your AV package,
AVG antivirus can cause this on some machines, really slows down machine operations as it uses more than its fair share of resources.
Change to a less resource hungry option. Avast Free AV is one to try, this is regularly updated and runs well.
