Cool though I Note the following before piling in

Its fixed, however the base rate will very likely be increasing in 12 days ( yes I have the date in my diary) this will put the ICESAVE at the very least (if their being crafty) at the same rate and not requiring £5k and most likely more.
Money, Money, Money ..... Banks/Casinos/Bookies give me all you money its a poor mans world....

You are assuming that Icesave will want to make a good impression and actually put their rate up by a decent amount if/when the boe rate goes up of course. It cannot be guaranteed though.

    Hi,

The bank is gambling that base rates go over 5% next year. The Halifax as a big mortgage lender IMO probably has a rough idea of the housing market direction . So I guess they expect 5.0% in Nov, remain 5.0% in December and then.....

"This special rate is now available longer. If you open an account between 4 Sept
and 31 Dec 2006 - although we could withdraw the offer before then. So to be sure of this
great rate open an account today online."

    Kind regards,

    Ashley.

"Our huge rate of 5.25% AER/gross pa is now available for 1 year regardless of any changes to Bank

of England base rate - for a limited period only! "
