People Living in Purfleet?

I am interested in buying a property in purfleet as the property prices seem reasonable with close transport links to the M25 and London city.
But i just wondered what the area was like? Some say that the area is quite nice whilst others have mentioned its a complete hole. According to some sources, the area is going through a regeneration development?
Anyone living there provide me with some opinions on the area?:j

The Gateway Development is huge at the moment and consultation is finished now (I believe). Yes, Purfleet is going to be undergoing regeneration as will the rest of Thurrock.
I work right next to Purfleet, and live about 20 minutes away so I kind of know the area. Some parts of it are not very nice (the Garrison estate was always a bit of a trouble spot), but there are quite a few older places that look nice and villagey if you get what I mean. There are also a number of new build developments around and about there so I would say there are definitely some nice areas.
It used to be a hugely industrial town and still hosts the likes of the big Proctor and Gamble offices and many others. Purfleet train station is on the C2C line and you are at Fenchurch street in about 20-25 minutes.
If you show me links to the properties you like, I might be able to provide some more insight into them...Trying to become debt free but this site makes me spend a fortune!!!

Hi, I know this is a few years old... But just wondering if you still like the area. Looking at a house in purfleet and been a few times to get a feel for the area. But don't know anyone who lives there. Any advice would be great!
Other than the transport links, do you notice the big trucks? Any crime? Lack of shops...
There is talk about regeneration in the area but it has been on hold since 2005
Help?!0
