NPower - Student in need of help
Hi all, I'm a student and I've been living in a new house for the last two months (i've officially been a tennant for months, during the summer holiday). When I arrived here in september I rang the local electricity board to find out who my electricity supplier was and they told me it was NPower. I immediately rang NPower, who had not sent any brochures, letters or account details in the post. They told me, they'd lost the meter details for the house but would send me a letter within a "few weeks" with my flat's new account details and that we would not be billed for any electricity usage until that point, when we would give our meter reading.
It's been two months now and still no letter. Should I continue waiting? Or am I obliged to ring them again and remind them? It's great having supposedly free electricity, but I'm panicking now that they'll be able to charge us huge amounts for not getting back in contact. Any advice on what I should do would be great.

Don't believe a word of it.
You'll get billed for what you consume as recorded by the meter.
If you got the ingoing meter readings agreed and included on the ingoing inventory/statement of condition, then so much the better.
Take regular meter readings to keep an eye on what it's costing you - you'll get a bill one day.
Unfortunately, since you've had the property since the beginning of the summer and it doesn't appear the supplier has set up an account for you yet, when they eventually do they'll probably bill you on their (most expensive) standard tariff.
I therefore suggest you get this resolved soonest, following the supplier's complaint procedure if necessary."Now to trolling as a concept. .... Thanks a lot for the advice guys. As I had so many problems with electricity in my flat last year I'm worried about facing any legal action or paying some daft amount for electricity i don't need to use.0

Hi study10
This doesn’t sound right as your meter should have details that energy suppliers can trace on the national database?
Don't worry - just give us a call on 08451 201 453 or email forumresponse@npower.com with your address details and it'll be looked at straight away for you.
Thanks,
