Possible Redundancy!

At the moment it seems very likely. Cardiff council have cut care agencies from 55 ish to 11, the company i work for have been unsuccesful in securing a contract. So last night i sat down and worked out that i am working approx 20 hours a week, for £81 more a month, as if i am jobless i will get help with rent, council tax and tax credits will increase as it is just hubbys wages coming in.

So after petrol etc, i feel i am no better off for working. (I take my children on a 40 mile round trip to grans at the weekend so i can work (
160 miles per week in total)

My questions are

If i were to just hand in my notice would we still receive housing benefit or would we have to wait some time?

Redundancy - I have worked at the company for 5 yrs only 20 hours a week but my contract states 0 hours will this stop redundancy pay?

Thanks in anticipation of your replies, Lolly x
