All I ever use on my laminate flooring is a mop and bucket, one of those with a thingy on it to sqeeze excess water out of mop, HOT water with washing up liquid and disinfectant in it. After washing I leave it to dry on its own which doesn't take long, even in winter as the water is scalding hot.

Alot of people say you shouldn't use water on laminate but I always have and mine has been fine.

Just a word of warning though.....when doing the dusting try not to get any polish on the laminate....makes it ultra slippery :D

  • hands, knees- hot soapy water and a cloth.Sometimes buy Wizz laminate cleaner from poundland, has a pleasing fragrance, but hot soapy water and elbow grease get it just as clean. After sweeping/hoovering of course.

Hello, I use a cleaner from TESCO called DIRECT FLOOR CLEANER. I sweep first then apply and wipe with a cloth or kitchen roll.No need to mop then polish -much easier with the same results.

Stardrops and a cloth well wrung out in warm water is all you need....... then when its dry buff it up with a microfibre cloth................have had mine down for 6 years and its as good as new.

Its not a good idea to wet it too much, it can cause problems, laminate is just what it says pressed wood and water if it gets into the cracks will make it swell.

  • i always find that washing then drying with clean cloth works well as it makes the floor look new and shiny but not slippery . just leaving dry is quick but makes the flooring look dull!

I recently started using Stardrops on mine after reading about it on this site & am pleased with the results.

Previously I always used a squirt of Fairy Liquid & a drop of bleach. I use squeegy type mop made by JMB or some such name who advertise on tv sometimes & sell stuff in shops such as Woolies, Wilkinson & Robert Dyas. It's pretty good at picking up any bits of stray fluff & stuff too.
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.
  • I have a rechargeable floor cleaner which is fantastic. It is lightweight, has no wires and readily picks up dust. I got it from a place called Coopers of Bishop Stortford but I have also seen similar things on Ebay. I use it most days for just a few minutes (my whole downstairs and all bedrooms have laminate). Before I got it I was spending a fortune on the dry wipes that you put on the end of a mop. Every now and then I give the floors a wipe with a damp mop wrung out in water with added (not fussed which cleaner whatever is on offer in Tesco). Usually have to do the hall more than anywhere else.
