Hi, just wondering what the average waiting time is before you hear back from HMRC about your claim? I couldn't see it in the posts at the top. Today is exactly 28 days since they would have received my claim form, and I haven't had any response or anything paid into my bank account as yet. Thanks in advance! :)

Edit just to say, I know I probably sound very impatient, and I'm well aware that HMRC aren't the speediest of people... was just looking for a rough estimate of how long I'll have to wait :)

Hi I am having the same problem I originally sent off a change in circumstance form at the beggining of August but they lost it so had to wait for the form and fill it out all over again. This time I posted off by recorded post and their records show it was received on 8th October. Phoned them after 3 weeks had gone and they said in the system but would chase it up, phoned again today and still the same. This is silly I have 6 young children one of whom is severely disabled to look after and have now not had a payment since end of July, they have told me I will get it backdated but that doesn't help me now. Am getting very worried as if it doesn't hurry up there will be no Christmas for us this year :(

Omg. I am worried mow! Had to close my old claim and make a fresh one due to change of circs. Wouldve been due a payment in two weeks and already panicking about the three weeks suggested. Now it looks even worse. :( hope you lot hear something soon. X

  • Have you contacted them and if so what did they say? I have been phoning every 2 days in the hope they will get fed up with me and hurry up lol
  • Thats a long time to wait, and to the person who has been waiting since June why have you not been in contact to find out whats going on??

My claim took 2 weeks to sort out and 3 before I started recieveing payment. Now when ever my Circumstances change it takes a maximum of 14 days before I get a letter confirming changes...

Phone them and they will be able to update you!!

i just tried calling and they don't seem to have my new claim form ?? he said to call back next week. sadly, my wages only just cover my childcare (actually, they don't even cover that) DH is self employed and his money comes in quite sporadically so i have always used my TC as 'living allowance' and the wages pay my childcare. prob is, i am now behind on my rent on account of waiting for this and being threatened with eviction. hopefully DH wil get paid next week for some of the work he has done and thatshould cover it but its not guarunteed. If i had realised they take a week for the form to arrive, i would have tried to find another way around it although not entirely sure there is one.

JulKel - that is the sort of thing i would normally do but they seem so behind on their regular work, i am terrified i will hold them up further if i keep calling. :( dunno whats best really. think for now, i will do what he said and call back next week. i just wanna know they got the damned thing.

Because I'm deaf and can't use a phone, actually went into the local tax office today and got everything sorted, should be getting payments within a couple of weeks.

If you are having problems getting in contact go to your local tax office everyone, even if the people there cannot deal with your claim, they have special phones where you will get to speak to an advisor in under 60 seconds! (my partner used them today while I was getting my stuff sorted out).
  • Good news here - my 3months backdated payment went in on Friday :) sooo relieved! Hope this gives those who are waiting a little bit of hope! x
