Insurance for flight & short cruise?

Hi,
We have short flight & channel 'cruise' next week.

I thought buying travel ins would be easy but it's not! Anyone any ideas?

I've looked at the insurance recommendations on MSE forum page, but couldn't really tell if the flight and cruise were covered.

The cruise company insurance is about 5 times the cost of the ones there so want to avoid that. Might have to phone a few places tomorrow.

Cheers :)

  • All I can say is (obviously) do your research. When I went to Canada I opted for the insurance that IEP (International Exchange Program) offered, which was obviously more suited for what I was doing there (extreme sports whilst working at a ski hill), but I remember being dumbfounded with all the other options. I guess its up to you whether or not you're willing to risk not travelling with travel insurance but at the end of the day its a huge risk, even if it is a short holiday and a cruise at that!
  • Thanks, lovetosave,

I will get it, can't travel unless we do. Just confused about whether the policies cover both flights and cruise - not specified anywhere on any policies I looked at.

most insurance policies will cover for all travel arrangements that are due to operate during the insured period, so really shouldn't be a problem.

is the flight & cruise booked as 1 package (ie is it on the same invoice from the same company) or is it 2 seperate invoices with 2 seperate payments.

The only reason i ask is that if it is all on 1 invoice and you have to cancel, you should only be liable for 1 excess (on the package price), however if the flight is booked and paid seperately from the cruise and you have to cancel both, you will then probably be liable for 2 excess's.

and as a final note, if travelling into international waters, make sure you get EUROPEAN cover, not just UK cover, as you may find you are not covered.

    Have a great cruise.
