Advent calenders

I have just been to my local 99p store.
They have Boratz, Disney, Marvel Heroes and Princess advent calenders for 99p. I checked some of the expiry dates and they are ok until 2008.
They also have Angelina Ballerina notecards and envelopes which would be nice stocking fillers for the little girls.

On the subject of advent calendars.... does anybody know where to buy/how to make advent calendars (fabricy ones) that have small pockets on so you can put your own (small) presents in?
I hope I make sense!
Merry Christmas everyone! teehee0 -

Tried these for the family last year and they turned out well. Used two colours of felt (Green and red, what else) and a glue gun. One colour was the backing, oblong shaped and folded over at the top about 3/4 inch. I put in a wooden rod a few inches wider than the fabric width and then tied a string to each end to hang it.
The pockets were fastened with a glue gun as well. I tried cutting them out in squares and rectangles, but the best option was to cut them with a rounded bottom (it took a few attempts to get it just right - then I used that one as a template for the others).
Then when I was sticking them on, I didn't put them on flat, but pulled the sides in a little (by keeping two fingers between the pocket and the backing). That meant that when they were fastened, there was enough space in each pocket to put in a sweet - I used Celebrations.
I numbered the pockets using a permanent marker.
Does any of that make sense? Hope so, and good luck.

Studio have a lovely fabric advent calendar with little pockets, they also have some gorgeous wooden ones with little drawers.
I often get the Playmobil calendar which is fantastic and it gives them an extra toy for xmas day, rather than the naff commercial tv character ones that have nothing to do with christmas and have awful chocolate inside.0 -
I got a really lovely fabric one in last years sales from BHS for 3.50 (down from £15) pleased with it
