Santander additional card holder credit check

My partner has a Santander credit card and wishes to add me as an additional card holder. In the past, I understood this to be a straightforward process with no credit check being made for the additional card holder. When she called, however, she was asked for my address and date of birth and am now wondering if this in order to carry out a credit check. I am concerned because my credit history is very poor and obviously do not wish her excellent history to be compromised. The card was only to be used to act as the required deposit (credit card only) for car rental in the U.S. Can anybody shed any light on current protocols?
Thanks, in advance, for any advice.

It's perfectly normal for the credit card company to know the name, address, and date of birth of the additional cardholder in order to comply with money laundering regulations. They may also perform an Identification: Generic Check against you which is not a full credit check simply a check to make sure you existCashback Earned ¦ Nectar Points £68 ¦ Natoinwide Select £62 ¦ Aqua Reward £100 ¦ Amex Platinum £48

IZools is correct nothing to worry about and quite normal.
There is however a possibility if you partner has told them that you are her partner that this "might" cause a financial link with CRA's, this is something I have always worried about my situation is exactly the same as yours my credit is well and truly broken a whilst my partners is a little better, she recently added me as an additional card holder onto one of her cards it was a concern at the time, we still dont know if a "link" has been made only time will tell on this............................."You can measure a man's character by the choices he makes under pressure"Sir Winston Churchill0 -
There will be no credit check or financial link created. The check is purely down to anti-money laundering and terrorist financing legislation - essentially making sure that your wife isn't adding Osama Bin Laden as a secondary cardholder0

Thanks for the reassuring replies. If anything untoward does occur, then I will post an update. Thanks again.0
