Natwest online banking email

Has anyone else received a strange email from Natwest lately? I have received the same email twice in the past few weeks to the email address I have registered with Natwest, and it says "Welcome to Natwest online banking" and gives information about various features, etc. The strange thing is I have not recently signed up - I have been signed up to nwolb for a long time now.
Before anyone says it is phishing, I'm pretty sure it isn't. The sender email address and ALL of the links in the email are in the natwest.com domain and it doesn't ask for any information or anything. It even has the last half of my postcode on it which is supposedly a sure sign it is genuine.
I am mainly concerned because I've been having some identity theft issues and I'd be worried that the fraudster may now be trying to get at my online banking somehow.
So anyone received a similar email? Could it just be a glitch at Natwest's end sending out these "welcome" emails to long time members?
I called Natwest and they tried to tell me it was phishing and to just ignore it, even though I'm sure it isn't.

Many people who opened Natwest's e-Savings account recently had a letter saying words to the effect of "I am sorry to hear that you have decided not to register for online banking...", even though as it's an online-only account you have to register for online banking!
But this indicates that they may have been having problems with online banking registrations, and not being sure who is registered and who isn't, which ties up with the emails that you have received.
But Natwest are well known for being somewhat useless, so just put it down to that!0 -
i got exactly the same email - 'Welcome to Natwest Banking' yet i've had online banking for years.
Stupidly though i thought i needed to check it out in case it was someone trying to defraud me. Unfortunately, now i access my email account to find all my contacts have been sent spam message from my email account.
So i would advise anyone who receives the email just to get rid straight away.0 -
I got the same one - it was personally addressed so I guessed it was from natwest but I also registered years ago!0

If this has happened I'd suggest you change your email account password to stop it happening again. If this password is used elsewhere like for your bank then change that too.Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0 -

Does it mean someone can actually physically see inside my hotmail account? I've changed my password, but i've read elsewhere that it might not be enough to avoid problems0 -
I've had conflicting/confusing emails from Natwest. Both to do with account opening and on-line banking. (see the basic bank account thread)
I have been told that various emails are triggered automatically but that the circumstances aren't checked to make sure they are appropriate. I think thats bank speak for 'Sorry, its a !!!! up'0 -
I've had the same email and as I've just opened the esavings account and they said they were including the second half of my postcode (which was accurate) I presumed it was genuine. After reading the previous threads I had second thoughts and deleted it!0
