Metropark

Hi, I have just received a parking ticket from the above company. The place where I parked had no lines and no signs on my side of the road. There was a sign on the other side of the road above the residents parking bays but the writing was too small to be seen from where I parked. I have photos of the situation. Is this fine enforceable? Should I pay it and can I be prosecuted if I don't?
Thanks in anticipation of advice.

Metropark, who are they then? I suspect they are a private co. but just want to check they are not acting for the local Council.

So, was this a Council ticket, called a PENALTY charge notice which you can appeal?

Or was it a private bogus ticket, called a PARKING charge notice in which case bin it.

In neither case would you be prosecuted, it's not a criminal offence unless the Police issue a ticket.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

If it's a council issued notice, could you not be prosecuted then? Surely the Council are issuing tickets subject to their own byelaws?
  • I don't think prosecuted is the correct word unless the council has not decriminalised parking.
The easiest way to find out is to inspect the ticket, if it says it will be sent to a debt collector if not paid then its private. If it says it was issued under rta 2004(I think) then its likely a council one. You could go to the council web site and put the ticket number in and see what happens.
Signs on the other side of the road do not normally influence parking on your side.
    Was it a private road?
I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.
  • Thank you for your helpful replies. The notice is a Parking notice. Also I have just realised that the street that the 'warden' wrote on the ticket is not the actual road I was parked in, I assume this must help my case? Having checked the code of conduct on the British Parking Association website I discovered that the warden's vehicle should have been displaying the company 'livery' fairly sure that it wasn't. All looking good for me! :D

You are taking this to seriously, the bpa are not a regulator they have no powers at all the same for metropark, just ignore them completely as been advised already!
Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?

None of this matters, it's just a firelighter then, ignore it and the debt collector letters that will follow.

    All's well.

The company contacting you has no powers nor place in law.

The contents of their letters are worded to intimidate you, that is it's main goal.

Please don't think it's a 'ticket' it is not, it is merely an invoice to which cannot and will not be enforced OP.

Stop worrying, nothing will happy, we can all confirm that here!
