What is the best way to phone home from egypt

I actually go this week to Egypt and have just been informed by my mobile provider the cost of making and receiving calls from Eygpt - hence the reason why i now wont be taking my phone with me.
Would it just be cheaper to use local public phones from there or to buy one of those cards from the Post Office.
Thanks in advance

If you have a laptop take it with you and download Skype, take it with you and connect to the hotel wifi. You will probley find their is free wifi in the hotel (especially in the hotel loby) and even in your room [Check the hotel's website for more information].
If your laptop doesn't have a built in microphone then you will need to buy a headset with a microphone. When I was in China I was paying a few pence a minute to make outgoing phone calls via Skype to my parents home phone. Compare this to 02 PAYG who wanted 99p a minute!!!

I've used one of these cards to ring home to Uk from Egypt

Just make sure you try it in your phone before you head out so that you know your phone is unlocked.
I can't remember how long it took to arrive though - maybe it says on the site (sorry havent enough time to look just now)
Or some people buy an egyptian simcard when they get there
lots of info about it on trip advisor forums

Hope this helps and have a wonderful time - totally jealous and wish I was going back there too!:D0 -
