Really need help - internet problem

I have a weird problem going on with my internet connection - every so often I will lose internet access (so will the rest of my household) but I will still be connected to the router. I have no idea what the cause of the problem is because sometimes it happens randomly and other times it happens as soon as my brother turns on his xbox to connect to xbox live.
Sometimes I manage to fix it by unplugging everything from the router and leaving it for a few mins then plugging it all back in, other times I can fix it by rebooting the router from connection through my browser (often I can't even connect to this) and even worse is when none of these work so I have to wait.
I am with talktalk. These are some screenshots of the router page when I've lost connection to the internet:

that's telling you that either:
1. your router has dropped sync
or 2. the DSL signal on your line has dropped
You really need to report this to your ISP for them to investigate it. However, before you do, have you carried out basic checks, like replacing microfilter/phone socket-router cable, different router/ connected router direct to the test socket ?????......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple

There is also a TalkTalk representative on here; so you could send him a PM if he doesn't see your thread

I changed the filter where the router connects but not the phone ones and I checked all of the cables. I don't have another router to test with. I'll try to phone talktalk tomorrow.0

Well it just happened again, I managed to fix my internet connection which is wireless by unplugging the two ethernet cables from the router - these were connected on the other end to a pc and an xbox through a homeplug. Then I turned it off and waited before turning it on again and leaving the ethernet cables unplugged from the router.
Then someone downstairs plugged in one of the ethernet cables and I immediately lost internet. Am i right in thinking it's probably something wrong with the router? I think it's less than a year old, or maybe it's because of the homeplug :S0 -
try running without the homeplugs.!!

You are running a :
- direct connect cable
- wireless
- homeplugs
off one router. Check one at a time, which one is causing it to fall down ?
- computer only direct wired
- then add wireless
- then add homeplugs
An hour between each, what happens now ?Disclaimer : Everything I write on this forum is my opinion.
