Working tax credit overpayment demand.

I've had a demand for £100 back on an apparent overpayment of WTC for the 09/10 tax year. I'd given them all the information they asked for off my P60 so I've no idea how or why they overcharged me. I realise there's a procedure for disputing this but before I go on with that I just want to know if I've got a case or not?

Cheers

Do the figures you gave them match up with the figures on your assessment?

The last assessment they sent me was for 09/10 and that has the figure I gave them from the P60 I got in 09, so that figure tallies. It's also on this last assessment that they mention the £100 that had been overpaid but I can't see where it's been accidentally paid to me, nor do I know why....

What income was your award based on during 09/10 before you submitted your 09/10 annual declaration?

Going by the figures in the assessment it would have been the P60 for the 08/09 tax year. Presumably they already knew I wouldn't be entitled to any further credits as the assessment say I wouldn't be getting any money off them.

Before you dispute the overpayment you need to ask them for an explanation. There are many reasons for overpayments other than income changes.
