Replacing a washer: not as easy as it seems!

hi guys!

We are having a bit of trouble fixing a leaking kitchen tap (hot water). We have searched online and pretty much know what we have to do, but we can't unscrew the nut that will give us access to the washer.

We have tried; brute force, WD40, heating with a hairdrier, using a bit of wood to get purchase...

Does anyone have any tips that we could try???

Many thanks:cool:

You could try heating it with a blowtorch...a hairdrier isn't going to heat it anywhere hot enough to break the 'seal'.

Try putting some pressure on the spanner and then giving it a hard tap with a hammer to try and break the seal.
  • thanks for the tips. Unfortunately, we don't have a blowtorch, but we will try the hammer tonight. Much appreciated.

i use one of these for sinks and basins.
with extra leverage on the handle, no nut is safe.
    Get some gorm.
