Good Morning folks. The sun is shining here.

I saw a recipe for spinach cake recently Steve - and I know how you like cake!:D

Don't forget we must mention money saving on this thread now as well - perhaps we can get a little mention somewhere on each page.

How about save money by making your own spinach cake :p

Hello there everyone - thanks Tixy for the MSE idea of saving money making spinach cake!! I've just checked my Tesco clubcard points with that like Aureol gave us a while back but I don't have any unused vouchers to claim - they ran through all mine for me last christmas when I realised I had not notified them of our change of address and I got lots which were very handy for our christmas shopping - shame I can't magic some up for this year ;)

It's very windy here, but dry - I had an appointment at 9.10 this morning to see doc as a temporary resident as I had run out of some of my tablets and she gave me my full prescription of meds so I'm OK now. thankfully, by brother-in-law came and ran me down to the doctors surgery but I had to walk back, via the PO and chemists - luckily the wind was behind me most of the way, but it is slightly uphill and i was worn out by the time I got back

My neice is picking me up at 1.30 for us to go see Mam, then my sister is going from work at 3.30 and I will pop down to drive her hoome about 5 pm - so we shall see how she is today and if she can manage to stay awake for her visitors now :D

I've been going through my emails and have just read the MSE Newsletter from Wednesday - £1 train tickets WOW - oh dear, not on the East Coast line - nowhere near Newcastle, though Mr 3Dogs and I could go to London, via Nottingham, or have a day out in Norwich some time. I've made a note of the link for future use. Steve, Andy & Kit could travel up to London for £1 return via that site - look for item about Megatrains - even if £1 tickets aren't available, they have others for £3, £5, £7, £9 so worth a look

That's must cover our quota of MSE for today :T :T :T :T

    Afternoon Folks,

Oh Tixy the Spinich cake recipe sounds nice may i ask if you could forward that onto me please. Im always saving money hence why i only bake me own cakes. With the price of them in the shops, Plus it makes you feel a whole lot better when someone say's that cake was delicious.

Susan glad you got sorted out ok at the dr's and you managed to get all your medication. Plus thans for the link about the cheap trains. Maybe go to London sometime in spring when the better weather is here. Or where ever we should all meet up again in 2011?

We could make this a regular outing am sure the others would be intrested especialy getting very cheap rail tickets. :D

Back from care home - Mam was awake today when we went - my Neice and I stayed about an hour - she is coughing quite a bit and it is a gurgling cough (fluid) but we could at least talk to her today, though she had to concentrate to understand - and we had a laugh, which is essential - her face lights up when she laughs and when she giggles, she is like a little wrinkly child - bless her little cotton socks

A carer came in and told us that when they were washing her this morning, they were laughing and carrying on, and Mam had a coughing fit with laughing so much. Another of the nurses came in to introduce herself too, which was nice. I could see from the fluid chart that they are coming in to see her very frequently and she is having sips of thinkened juice. While we were there she drank about 100 mls of that juice and ate a little ice cream. It was Mint Choc Chip but she spat the choc chips out as they were 'sharp' - must remember to give her vanilla or raspberry ripple in future!

Brother was meeting my sister on the Metro train and then going to see her from about 4 till 5 pm, so we left at 2.50 so she had a chance of a little sleep before they arrived

That's good to hear about your Mam Susan. Really good to hear they are taking good care of her and ensuring she is hydrated.

I banked my £40 of cheques today from Walkers, and came home to find a 5th had arrived. Funny, the guy at Nationwide didn't seem very impressed with my cheques! He kept checking them! Maybe he thought I had magicked them!

Trying to think of something money saving. Has everyone checked their tax codes? Are they all correct?

How is Mr3Dogs doing with the auctions?

Should get him to join the £10 a day challenge.

Your walkers cheques are sort of money saving aureol - how does it work? I've seen the advert but don't know more than that about it.

Sounds like mam is reasonably happy and settled 3dogs, and sounds like they care at that place. Does she know or ask why she is there or is she just accepting it now? I know what you mean about when they get to that child-like phase where the small things can make them happy, my grandmother is the same (on a good day). She still has the odd paranoia days but these are less frequent as her alzheimers has progressed.

Stevie - bright green spinach cake recipe - http://www.grouprecipes.com/78737/spinach-cake--ispanakli-kek.html though personally I'd prefer lemon drizzle cake :D

Unfortunately it is finishing next week, but you have to buy Walker Promotional Crisps bags, and there is a code on them that you can enter online, this code gives you points to select a place on a map of Great Britain.

You choose a square where you think it is going to rain on the day selected, ie 15 November and you choose a time slot, ie morning, lunchtime, or afternoon. And then you pray it rains, and you win £10. I buy walkers anyway because DH and DS like them, so I am not spending any more money than normal on them.

Was going to mention, does anyone read the Updated Printable Vouchers thread ?We have had some right money saving bargains on there! That might help you 3Dogs?
