3Dogs try your mam with jellies, if she likes them. They can be good for dry mouth. Also ask what the policy is on mouth swabs. Some places will use them, some won't. They basically cleanse the mouth and keep it moist. Not everywhere will use them in case patients bite down on them, but they can be great for keeping the mouth moist. And also use plenty vaseline around the lips to lock in the moisture and stop the lips from cracking - if your mam likes vaseline (I hate the stuff on my lips!)

Forgot, I got this bit of info from Nicca on the NSD thread last night, which is very helpful - thanks Nicca :j My sister is going to look tomorrow for those boxes of jelly orange/lemon slices to see if Mam can manage them. We think they will be the best to try her with, though we did get some kiddies soft jelly sweets for her to try today, but forgot to take them in to her :o We do put intensive lipbalm on her lips, but perhaps vasaline would be better, so will get some of that too

Beanie do have a good day. Watch nice telly programmes. Can you write Christmas cards? Can you stick up a few Xmas decorations and get DS to do the heavy stuff later. Make yourself a nice cake or something with whatever you have in the house. Send DS to a library to borrow some books for you if he is able to leave.

3dogs good luck with Christmas cards, visiting mam, look after yourself. Moneypenny have a good day. Aureol hope bad cold is better and you rested a bit last night. Boult hope you are ok. And Marru good luck for exam. Steve'n'Andy'n'Miche love ya. Speak tonight but late.

Hi Guys - I didn't get up to go shopping for cards this morning after all - I took two lots of tramadol last night by mistake and it was 1 pm before I got up :o:o

So just went down to see Mam about 1.45 pm with my brother till 3.45 pm and then popped home and back out to pick sister up from Metro station after work at 4.30 pm to take her down to see Mam till 6.30 pm

Mam was bright today - smiling a lot and talked a bit - we tried her with bits off a soft jelly sweep which she managed to chew for a while then swallow, and we could tell that it moistened her mouth, so thank you Nicca :j :j She could only manage a little but we will give her a little each time we visit :) We have arranged for the hairdresser there to cut and set her hair next Tuesday so she will feel a little better for Christmas - they will do this with her in bed as they have special equipment to wash her hair, a bit like a shower cap but in reverse - and the Chiropodist will visit her to see to her feet, straight after the New Year
