Hi all
Sons computer broke down so a friend reformatted it and instaled Windows XP again. Because we don't have the original (7 yrs old) board drivers we are a bit stuck. So, on searching for the drivers we have come accross loads of 'Free' software to update the drivers. However, on reading an article, it appears that there are twice as many malicious programs filled with adaware, malware, scams etc. In fact, I just searched Google and there are literally hundreds of sites. So, my question is this:
Does anybody know of a piece of software that will scan & update the drivers on an old Asus board (A7N8X-E), without any Scams, gambling adverts/pop ups etc ???
Thanks all xxxxx
PS, I have looked on Free software sites, but the first one we tried took us through a long process before I saw the word 'Subscribe'
Any help peeps?
Thanks all xxxxxx

You need to find out either the make of computer and see if the makers site is still available, in which case you may be lucky with drivers.
or find out what the motherboard make and model is, and look for that manufacturer, then search if they still have a site for the model.
There are drivers available for boards that are much much older than yours.
What drivers are you looking for ?, and what other information can you give for people to try and give you a helping hand.0 -
take a look at the Asus site.0

Select your operating system from the drop-down box. For instance, there are 28 files listed for Windows XP. You don't need all of them, only the last version of each. Flashing your BIOS carries the risk of making your motherboard unusable if it fails to work properly, so only do that if you find you need to, or if any of the advantages that each update lists would be advantageous to you.0 -

Hi to everyone and thanks. We tried the Asus site and it was painfully slow and is not too user friendly. Most times it tells you the server is busy etc. I was just wondering if there ever was/is a free driver scanner.
Thanks all0 -
I have used http://www.drivermax.com/ successfully in the past for hard to find drivers.
With the free option you'll only get one driver a day though so it isn't really geared to finding every driver for a machine.0 -
Not a driver scanner, but Belarc Advisor or Piriform Speccy will give you help identifying your devices, and then you can Google for drivers/manufacturers. I agree the ASUS site has been no use to me in the past since it is very unfriendly.4.8kWp 12x400W Longhi 9.6 kWh battery Giv-hy 5.0 Inverter, WSW facing Essex .
